One Incredible Week In!

OMG, what a great week this has been.  I am SO glad I added a week to my stay.

Highlights have included:

Thompsons and totem poles.

Nerikomi pottery classes in Youbou.  Two day handbuilding porcelain pieces.  Great experience.  Such nice people.

Newly discovered trails for thousands of steps:  blackberries, ferns, moss, huge maple leaves, mushrooms, Ed’s Coffeehouse

and an alarming amount of bear scat on the trail that runs through town and on the streets!!  πŸ˜³πŸ˜²πŸ˜¬

Oh, and some painting! πŸ₯΄πŸ˜‚. I can’t wait to see what this week brings!  πŸ˜€

Day 1: 6 Hour Walk, 26,000 Steps, Sunshine and Shrooms

Omg, what a day!  This place does NOT disappoint.   I spent most of the day walking along and among the trails around the town!  Unbelievable scenery.  So grateful!

Adventures In Art #8- Artist In Residency, Lake Cowichan, BC: Let The Adventure Begin

Arrival day!  πŸ˜³πŸ˜ƒ

Left Calgary Monday morning and spent the night in Salmon Arm in a cleaned-with-far-too-much-bleach Air B and B.  Then to Surrey last night and the evening with the Murisons and a quick sight seeing drive to White Rock.  It was Kyle’s 23rd birthday, so got in on a great meal at a delicious Malaysian restaurant.  They just got back from the island Monday night so we’re full of all kinds of great pictures and suggestions.

Up this morning to catch the 2 hour, 10:15 am ferry from Tswassen to Nanaimo.

Arrived, unpacked, explored.  Let the next adventure begin!

Adventure In Art #7- Eudes Correia Worshop In Calgary πŸ‘πŸΌ❤️πŸ§‘πŸΌ‍🎨🍷

I can’t even begin to describe how great this weekend was!  When I first saw that this guy was coming near me, I jumped at the chance to enrol in his worshop.  And I’m so glad I did!   That it was in Calgary ended up being just an added bonus!  Close to home and conveniently connected to Adventures In Art #8’s residency road trip perfectly!  So I drove to Lee’s and stayed with her on Thursday and then stayed with Wayne, Janaya, Hector and the boys for the rest of the weekend.

But I had no idea it was going to be THIS awesome!

Two days of learning his unique and cool portrait painting and a day of en plein air painting.

I am even the PROUD owner of an original painting!  So thrilled!

But truly the best part was meeting so many interesting and eclectic people.  People came from Ontario, Vancouver, LA, and all over Alberta.

After the en plein air demo and paint time yesterday at Prince’s Island Park yesterday we went out to eat (and drink) and had the most incredible evening getting to know each other.  Several of us ended up at the Glenmore Reservoir for sunset (and more wine)!  Certainly “clicked” with this group of people.   A great night!

It’s just so great when inspiration and connection meet.

This is the best time I’ve had in a very long time.  Much food for thought and life lessons learned in a few short days.  I’m so glad I had this opportunity!
