I’ve Never Spent So Much Money In One Day

Sealed the deal today and I am now the proud (leasing) owner of this 2024 GMC Terrain AT4.  Stacy recommended Dorian to me.  I went to see him Wednesday at 1 pm and I drove away in the car today! “Quick and slick” as Dad would say.

My 5th car ever and my first new one!

Let the new adventures begin! πŸš—

All’s Well That Ends Well or You Can’t Come Back If You Don’t Leave

Well I certainly can’t complain about my final week in paradise…(except, maybe, for the last 2 days of cold, rainy weather πŸ€ͺ).

I took Pete and Solveig to the Lyle Lovett concert in El Cajon, did my final pottery class (horsehair raku), did my last yoga classes (41 this trip…48% of my days here!) with Nikki and Russ (who thinks my name is John πŸ˜‚), enjoyed my Sunset Cliffs walks, Peets coffees, Rubios, In and Out Burger and Chick-Fil-A.  Pete and Solveig had me for supper last night to bookend a wonderful winter escape.

Thanks to Linda and Terry and Ward and Annie, who were kind enough to take a lot of my stuff home for me, I had (some) room to spare in my luggage for this first post-pandemic flight home today.  (I still left 3 Rubber made containers of things at Pete’s, but I will get that next trip down!) πŸ˜³πŸ™„πŸ€ͺ

So as I sit here, 2.5 hours early at the gate for the flight home, I am grateful, grateful, grateful.

Now, to focus on a new car, tutoring, getting a phone πŸ₯΄πŸ™„, learning new Solstice music, art residencies and a possible September return.   That should keep me busy.

Creative Creations: San Diego Winter 2024

3 painting sessions with Helen Shafer Garcia at Fallbrook School Of The Arts.  Her style is wild and free and uninhibited.

5 classes with Gabriel Stockton at Art On 30th.  Many great tips from a local pro with a studio in Spanish Village.

Paint Out at Liberty Station with SDWS and Shuang Li.  My second time learning from her.

And, of course, pottery (and glass) with Celeste twice a week!  What a blessing.  This time: glazes, raku and obvara!  So fun!!  She really is a genius!

2 glass pieces this time!

I can’t tell you what art has done for my mental health.  It’s been amazing learning all these new things.  And, over the winter, I applied for 2 art residencies for this summer….and got them!  I’m so excited!  I’m going to one near Nanton, Alberta in June and one in Fort Qu’Appelle in August to spend a week in each place painting.  How lucky am I?
