Spring has sprung

Not that there’s much difference between winter and spring here, but you can see it in the flowers!  So beautiful!

It’s been another awesome winter here.  I could totally live here.  But as my time draws nearer to being over, I can’t help but be so grateful for everything I got to do while I was here.   Pottery, painting classes with Gabriel Stockton, Helen Shafer Garcia and a Paint Out with the San Diego Watercolor Society, yoga, walks, bioluminescent waves and visits with friends.  John Lennon Art Exhibit and Redwood with Idina Mendel at La Jolla Playhouse.  Many meals, laughs and great conversations with Pete and Solveig.  Super Bowl and St Patrick’s Day parties at Bonita and Dick’s.   Home visitors this time included Tom and Les, Jean and Grant, Linda and Terry and Ward and Annie. Lots of rain and a bit cooler than last year but it wasn’t snow so I’m not complaining.  Most of March has been at the ocean condo with all its glory.

And with a week still left to enjoy, I will make the most of the days, the weather and the opportunities.  I’ve already put in place plans to return in September to, hopefully, housesit for Patrice and Jim in Fallbrook.  Can’t wait to come back.

Another Trip Around The Sun

A great, full day (and week) turning 59!   Breakfast at Breakfast Republic in Liberty Station with Susie and Cheryl, an art class in Fallbrook with Helen Shafer Garcia and supper, swim and hot tub in La Mesa with Jean and Grant filled the day.   The next day at pottery class and everyone was so thoughtful and we went for lunch.  I even won the watercolor demo give away from Gabriel Stockton at his art class that night.  Tonight supper out with Pete and Solveig at a Wine Bar.   Lucky, lucky me.

2024 Thus Far

Ok, I think I can write about this now…both for processing and closure.

The year started off well.  Drove down the usual route, with a stop at Lee’s and a visit and great raclette supper and visit with soon-to-be-retired Les!

The day after I got here, I got t-boned turning into Jensens and yadda-yadda-yadda, the car got written off and towed away! 😢.  So after 2 weeks of dealing with insurance, things finally settled down and I regrouped with my rental car and started over.

Thank God for Pete and Solveig!  They were unbelievably helpful.  A real Godsend!  I am so grateful to them.

When I got here, Pete had covid and Solveig was just over it.  Planned to go to see Karole’s play with Susie and Cheryl and Cheryl had it.

Tom and Les were here the beginning of January and stayed only a few blocks away.

Now I’m settled into my walks, and books and yoga and pottery and painting.  My acute whiplash is settling down after several acupuncture treatments with Yael, massages from Nick and Krysta and a new member to my “team”, Megan the chiropractor.

The winter has been relatively cool and rainy this year.  A couple of really big rains with flooding and the need for Pete to drain the pool!  But, it’s not snow so I’m not complaining (too loudly).   Still a stunning place to winter.  I never seem to tire of being here.  So blessed in so many ways.

Well, fuck

I suppose it was inevitable.

Man this has been a shitty month.  I just had a 3-4 week bout of a nasty flu that felt like covid and now I actually have it.   Add this to one hella bout of SAD as well and I am ready to see the end of this season of sick.

Ugh !
